I had an overnight guest yesterday. Her keeper is moving and she will be going to a new home later today. Luckily for me, she won't be moving too far away.

She does this......

 .....while I work

Her final week with me. She has taken over the couch, well covered because I was anticipating this...

In the first week, she took her time settling in, wondering what was going on.
Second week, she adapted in a might-as-well-make-the-best-of-things mode.
Third week, she began communicating with me, and since I was also adapting, I understood her communiqués.
Fourth and last week, still to unfold...

You're responsible for another life and suddenly you have to follow schedules, feel as if you're abandoning her when you need to go out to appointments etc., take her out twice a day rain or shine (rain today), and give her a little lecture about the bed being a No-Doggie-Zone; she has her own bed at the foot of mine, even though she prefers the floor most of the time. She's understood that so far, but today while I was out she decided she'd try it out. When I came back the duvet was all scrunched up -- no big deal, except that it had drool on it, so off came the cover and into the laundry basket. Ah, but I love her anyway.

This project was fun, but not for the impatient. Roll out Sculpey air-dry clay, that is (THANK YOU DIANNE FOR CATCHING THE ERROR!), cut out shape with exacto knife, insert wire for legs, let dry. Wait for what seems forever -- a day or two. Seal, paint, seal again.

Wishing you a dry and calm day!

 It's a dog's life.

She came over last night and made herself at home right away. This morning we went out for a walk, she had breakfast and napped; then she had lunch and napped in the bedroom. Now she's napping on the couch. Such good company; she goes home in a couple of hours.

I dream of jeannie

What a lovely time we had.
She went straight to the kitchen and made googly eyes at me. I wouldn't mind a biscuit or three.
I made chicken mole for us, and Jeannie got a BIG bone-shaped biscuit.
Then some snuggles. And a lot of licking on her part. And tail wagging.
Contentment is a loving dog.
I bless the day she was rescued from a Florida pound and brought to Canada.
