Sunday pleasures

It's been a good day. Hot but not too humid. I finished this 10x10 canvas (available at etsy) , then set off for my monthly visit to the St. Lawrence fleamarket.
As I walked over to cross Colborne Street, I walked straight into a movie set. The buildings had strange signs on them until I realized the coffee shop was now sporting 5-cent coffee signs and antique cars, polished and gleaming, were lined up in front, and a humongous crew with all their trucks and lights and paraphernalia all over the place.

I didn't linger -- too much standing around and waiting, which is the norm in the film business, and crossed over the the fleamarket. I saw some nifty things, but it was Jocelyn way in the back that had the best. She loves and rescues old things and sells them just the way they are. She gave me a fantastic deal on a wooden letterbox I fell in love with, and I also picked these up:

  4. Great finds! I love the buckles and the petticoat on the doll. What fun to run into a movie set! I think I read that Toronto is used for many movies and televison shows. I watched one last night that was filmed there...called Four Brothers. It was very wintry and lots of snow!

Ah! I have fond memories of the St. Lawrence Flea Market! I still have a carved wooden rabbit (life size) complete with pink eyes and chewed feet that I bought back in the day.

  7. Love the bird cage canvas you made Colette. It reminds me of the beautiful one Holly made for me using a cage (and birds peering out) for a skirt).

And I love the goodies you found at the flea market too!
