 This is not original. I saw it somewhere a while ago, I forget where, and while tidying up some supplies, I found some doll parts and click! I remembered the one I'd seen and made one for myself. A refreshing change from using these on jewelry and assemblage, no?

I actually made something for myself -- not to give or to sell, but to keep.

I have small wrists, so ready-made bracelets are always too big for me, and I don't wear them most of the time. But here was this piece of antique French linen, already stitched and too short for anything else, so I added a mother-of-pearl buckle and button, made a loop with embroidery thread, and... perfect fit!

The thing about stitching words is that there are so many, many words that I want to stitch, and that means I could never get bored. I can see going from single words to phrases, too.
           It's also an eminently portable craft. When I'm away, I don't take any art supplies with me; I suppose I need to be in my environment with everything around me. Sewing small items, though, is not a problem; supplies don't take up much space and I don't need to spread everything out. The next thing I'm going to do is make a kit to take with me when I'm travelling.

I was out enjoying the day; the weather is just the way I like it, warm not hot.
This evening I attempted sewing with appliqués. I thought I was making a coffee cup, but it turned out to be more of a pitcher. I stitched the outline, then filled it in with fabric that I cut to shape. It's OK. I'm not thrilled with it... but I would try it again.

WIP

I'm taking it easy for a couple of days. This evening I'm stitching, something that relaxes me (while watching/listening to Last Comic Standing, the only "reality" show I like -- I love good stand-up comedy), and tomorrow I'm going to a movie matinee with my friend Carol (popcorn lunch!)
