Michelangelo: Quest for Genius, an exhibition of 28 drawings by Michelangelo, telling the story of his creative process and the frustrations of it, opens at the Art Gallery of Ontario on Oct. 18 and continues to Jan. 11. The collection is on loan from the Casa Buonarotti in Florence. "These drawings represent the range of Michelangelo’s work, revealing the
private world of the artist – his ideas, emotions and struggles to
create and highlighting his unrivalled achievements as a painter,
sculptor and architect." [AGO]
I studied Michelangelo at University, not his sculpture, but his prose, some of it so powerful that it has stayed with me all these years. Like the drawings in the upcoming exhibition, his words are filled with his emotions and struggles and ideas.
