It's Victoria Day in Canada and we're enjoying the long weekend, with beautiful weather.
Having taken two walks with my guest-dog, I've spent the day puttering around in my studio corner.
The portrait is of Dante, the 13th-century Italian visionary poet. I studied his work at university. I can still recite lines from Inferno by heart, in the original. There was one passage that I learned by heart, just for the heck of it, and it was the one passage that came up for identification and analysis in our final examination... the Examination Angels were surely looking out for me.

Fridays' Child

 Today the laundry will get done. It has to be done on weekdays because the laundry room gets crowded on weekends... On days like this I wish I had an outdoor laundry line. Two days ago, it was warm enough to go out in just a jacket. Today is sunny and windy (perfect for laundry!).

Now that I've put you to sleep with talk of laundry and weather...... I wanted to do something different: a piece of cardboard that I used as a table top easel (hence the paint marks), a piece of cotton that was coffee-dyed, a stapler, and paint. I found out that I dislike painting on fabric, but maybe that will change.

Thank goodness for paper. Canvasses can get bulky and hard to store when space is at a premium, but paper  saves the day.

Often, before I close up shop for the day (around 11 p.m.) I paint something. Last night, I pulled out my paper.

I've rediscovered water soluble pastels. I tried Portfolio a while back, but I didn't like the feel or the results. Then Lynne mentioned she used Neocolor II, and because she produces such beautiful work, I got a couple to try them and it was instant love. I love the feel and the results and they are now my pastels of choice.
