Yesterday we enjoyed a beautiful warm Spring day, but I didn't hold my breath knowing how unruly March can be, I just enjoyed the moment. Just as well; today we're having something of a snow storm.

While I wait for it to abate, work continues.

A long quiltie

And a Bugle Boy (of Company C).

Today is our third or fourth sunny day in a row.  A little sustained sunshine always lifts my mood, and my girl Mabel is off again, dancing in the streets. Oh, dear.

Here's to bringing a smile to your face!

How can it be Thursday already? Where does the time go? Why is it going faster these days. I sat myself down and had a chat with myself.

Self, I said, first of all there is no "time".
Second,  therefore time is neither slow nor fast.
Third, time is exactly the same as it's always been.
Fourth, it's all moot since there is no time.
It's all about perception. The older we get, the more conscious we are of our "time" running out, which leads to this whole business of time going faster.
Well, that's my story, anyway.

It was back to stitching (a stitch in time....?).

Have a timeless day!

 Friday quilt.

It's all in the composition. Birds, bees, human! The Victorian Union Jack is there only because I like it, although it does fit and provides a pop of colour. The wee girl posed in a niche meant for a plant (or a statue??) is me.

Some things creep up on you when you're not looking.
Like this little dress.
I cut out the shape and forgot about it. When I saw it again, I didn't like the shape so out came the scissors. My head told me to draw the outline first, but the other voice said just get on with it, snip snip. So I did.
A couple of days later, I stitched the outline to the background, and the rest came in fits and starts. Try this, discard that, the phone rings or you have to go out, and it gets forgotten again. Until you sit down to relax and your eye hits the dress and another idea pops into your head, and so it goes until it's finished.

My sampler is coming along. It's a slow process, which is good for me because it slows me down too.

 Happy Monday!

The cloth is finished. I worked on it from the bottom up. That wasn't planned; it just happened that way. A lot of arranging and rearranging of elements went on before I decided to stitch them down. It's a very good feeling when it's finished, but I miss the process. Which is why I'll make another, and another....

On a grey, rainy day, a comforting thing to do curl up on the couch with a hot drink and stitch. The temperature will double by tomorrow and I'll be out and about, so today I'm taking the opportunity for a little quiet time with my sewing.

A bagful of treasures came my way via my lovely friend Françoise, cuttings from her studio floor, little antique gems that make my heart race. She is in town for the One of a Kind Spring Show, Stand G-03, Atelier du Presbytère.

Here she is:

Treasures!

Last night when I downed tools for the day, I stitched this little piece.

The butterfly is finished and in the shop. I've found that using sequins judiciously, and artfully of course, can be very attractive.

Time for a Sunday walk.

May all beings be peaceful. May all beings be happy. May all beings be free from suffering.

I do love to stitch on a winter's night....

Some evenings I find I can't sit still, even though my favourite programs are on TV. That was the case last night. The easiest thing to do while sitting away from my work space is to stitch. And stitch I did, with inspiration from my latest stash of Mantofev supplies, my favourite online flea market.

It's snowing. Which is normal, and like any good Canadian I am about to trudge out to the Post Office and other errands.

Meanwhile, I've been stitching these mini-quilties. They are one of my favourite things to do. (And they're available in my shop.)

This long weekend (today is a civic holiday) has been about feathers.
My longtime friend sent me another feather from her backyard in Australia and it set me off. I painted two feathers on a postcard for her, and started stitching another on a piece of antique linen.

This next piece was inspired by a huge pieced fabric by Julia Griffiths Jones depicting aspects of a collection at the National Wood Museum of Wales.

My three days in Wales this summer yielded so many intangible treasures. One tangible treasure is the striped blue and cream Welsh wool scraps in this quilt, courtesy of my friend who generously let me have some.

I will be vending at Glitter Market in Oklahoma City in late October, and there is no time like the present to make more than usual. The challenge is to keep my Etsy shop stocked and fresh, while adding to the Glitter Market pile.

This folder/book piece took a long time, mostly for the design. [Translation: Once upon a time there was a dream]

 Work in progress, almost there.

And a little painting, using my carved rubber stamp (available at Stampington & Company).
