This is my first large painting in quite a while. My usual excuse, and it's a valid one, is lack of space, not for painting but for storing the paintings. With the Turner Exhibition still fresh in my mind, I gave in to the urge.

For this painting, I used a cotton rag, not a brush, to apply the paint. It was one of the ways Turner applied his first layer of paint. I find it a very effective, and satisfying, method.
