When I'm in the mood, in this case painting on canvas, I continue until I feel the need to do something else. (I hope that makes sense.)
I began this with painting a canvas, no particular thought in mind, to experiment with marks. The marks are faint, but there are there.
I liked the "emptiness" of it, and let it sit on my easel for a day or so. Then I turned it around and examined it from all angles. I didn't love the blue patch. I looked for a subject to emerge.
I saw a ladder. Where was it going? And I still didn't like the blue patch. Titanium white came to my rescue.
It was leading into a magic "cloud." The unknown. And a fearless child holding a blue bird began her journey.
Simplicity is the removal of the useless and the unnecessary--source unknown
Dear Collette - this painting is lovely.
