This message means a lot to me, and I want to share it. It's what makes my work worthwhile.

My mother recently surprised me with your laundry piece from the cover of "Somerset Studio" magazine. I wanted to let you know how beautiful I think it is--even more so in person. It is now one of my prized possessions. I am also a mixed media artist and I am doing a piece for my aunt inspired by your laundry series. It shows a similar landscape with clothesline only the objects depicted hanging in the wind are three dolls and a t-shirt that are of particular significance to her life. I will of course write on the piece that it was "inspired by the work of Colette Copeland." I hope you don't mind. My next pieces will be more general collages of objects significant to a friend or family member. I am planning to do a bunch of these for holiday presents. Anyway, thanks for sharing your talent. I hope to collect more of your pieces in the future. (I also enjoy your blog). Best, Mollie, Iowa, P.S. Thanks for your words about Senator Obama online.

Dear Mollie, you are so very welcome. And the idea of hanging significant objects on your laundry line is purely yours, and a wonderful one too.

  3. Fabulous cover art, Collette!
I love how you put your mom's phtos on your side bar. Today marks the day my mom has been dead a year, and you have inspired me to put photos of my mom on my blog to remind me she is always with me.
