All in the Family

This post is dedicated to my sister. Please join us on a desultory walk on my stretch of Yonge Street.

First, we arm ourselves with a couple of these, from Patachou (the best). Patachou is a Toronto landmark, owned by people originally from France. If you're lucky, you might see Madame in the shop, for all the world still a Frenchwoman in her understated slim elegance.

Next we stop to look at the sidewalk displays.

At Putti, they're going 18th-century modern.

But wait! Wot's this?? Shiny red plastic?? Well, why not. Sofia Coppola had Marie-Antoinette romping to 21st-century music, did she not?

Rusty cherubs waiting for the right garden.

Inside Putti's foyer.

The authentic Paris dress form as jewelry holder.

The chair, the chair...... my kingdom for that chair. Do not look at the price tag!Time to sit down at the Italian café and wash down our pain au chocolat with a double-espresso for me, Earl Grey tea for my sister.
