Tet. Year of the Pig (Boar).
Chinese New Year, which begins Sunday, is celebrated in a big way in Toronto. The Toronto region actually has six distinct Chinatowns, including several suburban areas that have emerged over the last 15 years or so. But the Chinatown I've always known is downtown, the area flanked by the Art Gallery of Ontario to the east and Spadina to the west, filled with many memories for me.
So, in the Hong Kong dialect of Cantonese, "Gung Hay Fat Choy!"
I am going to my first ever Chinese New Year celebration next weekend! I am so excited
ReplyDeleteDearest Colette, Thanks for the big hug and sweet, lovely valentine yesterday. This is a cute little porker. Your Chinatowns sound fascinating. I can imagine the cuisine is excellent! Oink, Oink... :)
ReplyDeleteAnd it comes along only once every 60 years (the year of the Golden Pig)!
ReplyDeleteI love visiting Chinatown in San Francisco....so the image of six Chinatowns is fantastic. I love browsing the shops and then stopping for dim sum.
