Urban living

I live in a city that has a lot of green spaces within it, and I'm lucky that I live right next to a small park. In fact I have a huge balcony overlooking it. To my right, I have a view of Lake Ontario, and on the other side of the lake is Rochester, N.Y. It's said that on a really clear day you can see Rochester. It's like faith: I've yet to see it, but I know it's there, I have no doubt whatsoever.

I try to walk in the park daily. For me it's like a walking meditation. I especially go there if I have things to sort out, questions to answer, or I need some peace from the ever-loud world.

It's sunny today, the birds are chirping, singing and twittering their little hearts out. Robins are populating the park again. They're very special to me, as I take my walks there. His middle name was Robin and I miss him so much. I like to think the birds are a sign that his spirit is around me.

  1. Lots of birds and flowers on your site! Two of my favorite things. I am so the same. I could never live in a place without a lot of green spaces. I feel so horribly disconnected without them. I remember when I lived in San Francisco I thought I'd love it but it felt like a concrete jungle to me unless I made the effort to go actually see the bay or Golden Gate Park more regularly. Did you paint that lovely tulip on your post today?

  2. Thank you. thank goodness for green spaces amid the concrete. And yes I did paint the tulip. I went through a tulip phase a few years ago and started painting in acrylics on sheets of watercolor paper.

    Have a lovely day! Tweet!
