Learning from the Masters.

In my early days of painting, I studied the Masters whose work appealed to me the most, and in the time-honoured tradition, made paintings based on their work. The name of Matisse conjures up his interiors, odalisques, portraits and cut-outs, but I was more drawn to his landscapes. This painting was based on a Matisse landscape, using watercolours.

Looking at it today, I still like it. Matisse was a great teacher.

    I've been a follower for over a year, at least, now, Collette! Your art is inspirational to me and I try to think about your "simplicity" as much as I can (meaning: I need to think about it even more!)
    This landscape you have painted with thoughts of Matisse is wonderful! Sidelight: I named my cat Matisse! Mary in Oregon
