Is it "mark making" or merely scribbling? Probably a little of both. When it's controlled, it can become a picture, a scene, a landscape. Whatever you want to call it, it's a great exercise in drawing, and it's very freeing.

I totally agree - draw with simple strokes - and if you can't draw, really, though everyone can - take a photo - even a bad one is a good aide memoir!
