Bird talk

These birds are quiet. They're an antidote to the chattering live ones that live around here. Not that I mind their chattering, unless it's 4 a.m. and they wake me up. Because sometimes my feathered friends can be very loud. Yesterday a robin was on the edge of the sidewalk eyeing the street. I told it to move back, what with all the traffic. My logical mind said: I'm talking to a bird, for heaven's sake. People are going to think I'm crazy. Still and all, robin moved back onto the sidewalk and hopped away to the grassy slopes of the park.

Adorable. You captured the essence of their sweetness.

I talk to birds too: greeting them, warning them away from danger, etc. We have lots of crows around here, and though I like crows very much, I struggle with the whole food chain thing in nature. So once there was a crow hopping in hot pursuit after something near our shed, so I went over to investigate. The usually hyper-skittish crow did not move away, and then I saw he was after an enormous lizard. So I shook my finger at him and said, "NO, you can't have that!" He hesitated, but when I took one step closer he sailed off and I shooed the lizard to safety under a board.

  3. You are funny; I can see me doing the same thing! I had a lizard in my house in Hawaii; I was up early and I told him to go away, leave...he ran towards the front door and crawled through the jam. I was stunned, but happy he was gone. I once saw a bird, i think it was a Martin, stealing a can out of the trash, it was an empty beer can. He tipped it up and appeared to be drinking it. It was hysterical...he was acting odd after that, a bird with a buzz! These are really cute, I hope you make a lacy one, too!

  10. I don't think you are crazy, because I talk to the birds all the time.. they make more sense than humans most times.

  11. Like you, I have lots of birds chattering around my house, especially at 5 am when they put out their wake-up calls. But their tunes are too melodious to scold.
