These are scenes from my sister's garden. There's also a birdhouse hanging from a tree, and there's also a hummingbird feeder, both usually well populated.
If I had a garden, I would spend a lot of time in it. But since I don't, I spend a lot of time at my table. I cut another stencil, and painted it on an old book page. I got a little bolder this this one.
Today's pet peeve: Belgium is not an adjective. Belgium is a proper name, the name of a country. The adjective is Belgian. Therefore, you say Belgian endive, Belgian boyfriend, Belgian lace. It's bad enough the adverb seems to have been abolished (as in "She said it so nicely" -- most people are saying "She said it so nice" and it sounds very strange to my ears). Let's at least get this straight. Thank you kindly. Peace out.
Colette, Your garden pictures are so beautiful..The new stencil is lovely. I like bold. And thank you for the kind comment. I do have one question. Does the lonliness ever get better?
ReplyDeleteSending you love, Nita
Yes, dear Nita, the loneliness does get better over time. That's a promise. Remember that life isn't static, things change, there's ebb and flow, some days are better than other but the better days will slowly take over.
ReplyDeleteMuch love xoxoxo, Colette
Ah collette, your stencil is so beautiful! I just love the bold lines here.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a great time of year for garden photos! I applaud you for trying the stencil! If I could locate my exacto knife, I might try one myself! I did enjoy carving my own blackbird Lino block for monoprints!
ReplyDeleteThe misuse of language sounds strange to my ears too!
Lovely bold, graphic style to your stencil Colette. It looks really good on the page you have chosen too.
ReplyDeleteI bought a huge piece of waxed paper years ago to try stencil cutting but I never actually used it. I would have done if I thought I could produce something like this.
I love your stencil-it's stunning. And you're right about adverbs. Indeed, you said it so nicely. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love your stencil work Colette. It looks very striking against the words.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo's from you sisters garden too.
Colette, just thinking of you tonight. xoxo Nita
ReplyDeleteThat's a pet peeve of mine too! I spent a year in Belgium and when I came home everyone wanted to know about the 'Belgium waffles'... and the 'Belgium boyfriend' for that matter. It was like nails on a chalkboard. It's 'Belgian'people!
ReplyDeleteThe garden is lovely. Nice photos
ReplyDeleteLove the photos! Love the stencil! Quite lovely!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget Belgian waffles! Nicely expressed!
This stencil image layered over a book page is striking and effective. I'd love to see more!
ReplyDeleteAmen! That drives me mad, too. Very striking piece here. xo
