Thoughts at the end of the year

Old Lace and Jingle Bells in Irish (c) colette copeland

Even though I "cultivate my own garden" it's difficult not to be touched by the dreadful things happening in the world. Benazir Bhutto, murdered (along with 22 innocent people in the crowd) because someone doesn't like her or her politics. We can pray, yes, but we can also lead our lives in a more positive way, because I do believe that it makes a difference. Enough drops in the ocean can create a second ocean.

I cultivate my garden by giving my spirit as much attention as I do my physical self, my surroundings. I give thanks for my blessings at the end of the day. My blessings are really invisible: the ability to work and put food on my table, a roof over my head. The love, affection and friendship of my family and friends. The shining example of people giving from themselves without expecting to get anything back, like my friend Tracy who collects shoes for the shoeless. Those who fill their needs from inside themselves and who have taught me to do the same.

Peace on Earth has never meant more than now.

  1. the news of bhutto's death was so depressing...how unfair & unexcusable.

making life rich & worth living is a small way that we can recoup a little of the awfulness back.

i like your essay alot, chica.

  5. Well said, my dear. We live in a world that ,most of the time, doesn't make sense. To have real friends both tangible and cyber... is a huge blessing! To selflessly help others in need brings back faith in humankind.

Happiness is an inside job.Eckhart Tolle mention's in his book 'The Power of Now' that it will be female energy to shift this planet.I think there should be a global meditation for female leaders and the Goddess.I know my fruits are invisible too..it is so hard to trust the unseen.I think we as artisans tap into behind the veil energies.Jesus actually loved woman.Blessings Denise
