Birds and olives

Today was a summer's day. The boys' soccer teams were back in the park, the sun was hot, the shade was cool, and I went back to my roots: watercolors. I pulled out my watercolor brushes, my watercolors trays and gouaches, and sat down to paint still lifes of...olives, and this "monochromatic" bird duo. It felt good. I'm going to do my florals next.

May you live with ease.

  2. Colette! I really truly love this little watercolor you did. My husband's grandmother had a tiny little pottery vase that was painted with a little dark blue and a brownish bird (almost JUST like these!!) - Besides a painting she did, this is the only thing we have of hers...A few years after she passed away, I found, at Goodwill, my favorite coffee mug which is a very earthy pottery with a very similar dark blue and brown bird on it sitting on a twig...I just LOVE this! Are you going to sell it in any form?

  4. Wow! thank you!!! I should do more watercolors, eh?

Katie, thanks for asking, and yes, it is for sale on my website, on the Watercolors page.

I didn't think it would turn out to be so "colonial" looking (shades of Williamsburg), but I was very pleased!

  6. Bravo, fantastic!

    loving all your bird images!
I am about to post a link to the little painting you did of your daughter's dress with a robin's nest...it was in the interview a few posts back!

I'm esploring the idea of wedding dresses...mine was my "leaving the nest dress!"
