Probably the best thing I did yesterday was to ignore my inner hermit who said, it's cold, it's snowy, stay home, and took myself to the Farmers' Market where, every Sunday, there is an antiques market. I knew what I wanted to find, but suspended all expectation. I hadn't been in a long, long time and gave in to the urge to go.
And I found what was on my mental list very easily, And my best find was Jan of Mélanger, Vintage Cottage chic . Oh, joy!
Here's what I got from her: some pieces of lace and.....a birdie planter!!
From Roisin's shop, a creamer Made in Canada, and The Doves' Nest, a book of Katherine Mansfield's unfinished short stories.
And these two rosaries, the blue one from France, the pearly one from Italy. (The book they rest on, Balzac: Le Lys dans la Vallée, is one my aunt gave me years ago.)
Fantastic treasures one and all!!!!!. There was a reason your inner hermit was overruled...this was waiting for you!
ReplyDeleteI am going to a huge flea market next Sunday that is held once a month that I haven't been able to go to in a long time. I can't wait.
XOXO
What luscious finds! So elegant. Glad you braved the elements and found these treasures. Lisa is right...they were waiting for you! The rosaries are just beautiful! Do you collect them? xxxooo

ReplyDeleteThanks friends o' mine!
ReplyDeleteJenny, I don't collect rosaries but I was on the lookout for old and broken ones to use in assemblage work. I found these instead and I couldn't pass them by...they have a good energy when I hold them and they are so beautiful!
oh I would have died and gone to heaven if I had found those rosary beads!!!! I do collect them - don't know why but they bring me comfort.
ReplyDeleteLove you other finds! I am glad those angels pushed you out the door xo
Now aren't you glad you went?! Look at all those beautiful things you found. I love old books (or new books!) and that little birdie planter is so sweet.

ReplyDeleteThat birdy vase is perfect and looks like you had some other great buys too.
I agree with you about the rosary beads, they look too nice to break up.
