Good things

My trusty "Cafetière." My first one was from France that I used at college. It's my preferred coffee-making method. I grind the beans finely (this brings out more flavor), place in the coffee maker, pour boiling water in, mix with a wooden spoon, and press down the filters. Quick, and delicious (see the cup of coffee two posts down). And far less caffeine that many methods (the less contact the coffee grounds have with the water, the less caffeine; also I prefer dark roast, and the darker the roast, the less caffeine.)

Below are "before and after, i.e., unwrapped and wrapped items" pictures of my third Comfort Box, which is on its way to Redlands, California. The little card in the foreground is a Laura Ashley design and contains a message from the sender. [There is something so satisfying about putting these together.]

  1. What a lovely box of sweetness and joy Colette...it looks "delicious" and invitingly mysterious at the same time! The lucky recipient will be delighted. You just have that natural "knak" for this. I love your little vintage, very French coffeemaker...and that it was with you in college. I am going to google this and try to find one to purchase. Thanks for the tip!

  2. I can just imagine you putting these care packages together with thought and love. They are perfect Colette! And such a lovely, and personal gift.I know the recipient of this one will love it.

I enjoy reading about your love of coffee and how you like it just so. Sounds like it is a lovely ritual when you make it too.

  4. I worked for a company that was part of Starbucks back in the early 90's. When Starbucks made coffee for tastings that was exactly how they did it. It does make the best, freshest cup of coffee.
I'm not sure what comfort boxes are but this looks beautiful.

  5. Your comfort boxes look so, so pretty. What lucky people who receive them.

As to the coffee, oh - yes, I only have one or two a day now, but they are such experiences.
