Simpler Life

Mid-20th century. Life was simpler in a sense, there were less grey areas, wrong was wrong and right was right. People did business on a handshake, doors were left open without fear of intruders. They warred against monsters who tried to conquer the world. It didn't do to let it all hang out, be rude and do unconscionable things in public and on TV. There is something to be said about that.

We've had a lot of progress since, especially in medicine, but are we more civilized, evolved? Ethics have fallen apart, morality is coopted by those who then go on the public airways and throw stones at people they don't like. Anything goes.

By you and I, we'll nurture our gardens, our spirits, be kind to ourselves and others, because we can make a difference.

All very true Colette! I'm sure there are many of us that would agree. The lace on your collage is a lovely touch!

  4. my heart leaps at this collage - how very sweet - I love it xo
sometimes I would love to go back in time to a place where clothes were left on in public, people were friendly and things were a little less hectic. But I can't. So I will do what you suggest - nurture my garden, my soul and the souls that I come into contact with and hopefully I will make a difference.
blessings to you Colette - you gorgeous soul xoxo

I'm with you there, Colette! I wonder if eventually there will be a return to better behaviour/manners/values - after all, the Roman empire fell, too... These days I often sound like my parents (yup! - it's happened at last LOL!) but the yob culture of today really does get to me... but, as you so rightly pointed out, better to light one candle than to curse the darkness :-) We should be the difference we would like to see - well, we can try at least LOL!

  8. These thoughts are so true....I would have never believed that things in the world would be so backwards in the year 2006. Poverty, racism, violence. Yikes. That is why our blogs are a safe haven and a place to start out from to spread peace, love, and understanding!

    Your collage is stunning!
