Plaster casting

Yesterday I ordered Stephanie's book, Semi-precious Salvage, from amazon.ca. Today it arrived. Now that's service. Some tiny plaster casts were cured enough so I did this with them (see photo).

Oh, joy!
In other news, I've been doing laundry today ;)
And in between going up and down to the laundry room, I've been working on a project for Somerset Life. Can't say what; we'll all have to wait until the January issue. You see, I don't rest on my laurels. I've been a full-time magazine editor and I'm trained to come up with ideas, among other things... Just be sure you tailor the idea to the publication. The stories I could tell from my editorial days...

  1. Colette, while I was Art & Soul, I got to do a casting of the actually bird Stephanie used in her book on her cuff project. It was really fun, as she said she got that plastic bird head at a garden shop.....I made two that night, in one of the evening classes called Plaster Pages..because I couldn't get into her Junk Drawer Metalsmithing Class. I just wanted to take a class with her! =)

  3. i love stephanie's book too. I finished the first project and finally got the second project materials... all except the nickel. I don't even know where to begin to look for that... but i have copper. I think that will work instead.

Can't wait to see some of the projects from the book that you churn out. Exciting!
