On a clear day

...you can see Lake Ontario dotted with sailboats.

So, I pulled out these little circles which had mystified me as to their use, and turned them into more little taglets. I don't know why it is exactly that we are drawn to older times, but I remember, even as a little girl, loving the Edwardian illustrations in antique children's books, and would look at them for hours. This little girl is from a later era, but still tugs at my heartstrings.
For me, it's not about "the good old days" because the world was about to go through the horrors of the first world war -- never mind people dying of diseases that are curable today -- and the Forties people (another era I love) were facing the second world war. Perhaps, it's because, even with these horrors, daily life was simpler -- I honestly don't know. And perhaps, it's just a matter of my esthetic sense.

  1. What a darling little image. I too am attracted to "older times" and always have been. I love these little taglets! Glad you found a use for them.

  2. I am not sure why we yearn for days gone by... maybe because even though the wars were 'happening' - life was simpler.. not easier but simpler. Not as rushed and people really had time for you.. if you were sad you didn't have to pay someone $180 an hour to go and talk about it - you went to a neighbour and had a cup of tea... they are just my thoughts xoxo

  3. I even long for the 60's...it seemed slower and people were kinder to one another. Children could play outside all day until bedtime all over the neighborhood and parents didn't have to worry about kids getting kidnapped. The horrors of today are just too much. These images remind me of the Kate Greenaway books. I love those sweet pictures...and your taglets!

  4. They are adorable. You know how much I love that little stamp. Putting her on a cicle tag was brilliant. Bonne idee! Tres bien!
